Belanger et. al. v. The Regional Municipality of Sudbury et. al.

On November 22, 2000, Lisa Marie Belanger, then 20 years of age, was driving southbound on Regional Road 35 (RR35) in The Regional Municipality of Sudbury when she lost control of her car, crossed over the centre lane and collided head-on with a northbound school bus. Ms. Belanger was badly injured. In the blink of an eye, her life and the lives of those closest to her were changed forever. This trail was held to determine if the Region of Sudbury is liable for any or all of the losses arising from the accident. Russell Brownlee was an expert witness for the Plaintiff (Belanger et. al.) and testified that the road had, in fact, refrozen during the time of the car crash, and that the Defendant was liable for damages.
